Advising & Counseling

Helping Distance Education students succeed

Our mission is to assist people through academic, career, and life transitions, as well as to empower individuals through knowledge, career preparation and personal effectiveness. Please look at the following items which have specific information for the distance education student.

Log into your My Chemeketa account for the next steps:

  1. View the new student orientation video under Services tab > Advising

  2. Degree or certificate seeking students are required to attend a new student advising session before registering for classes. The online advising session is an alternative for those not able to attend face to face campus advising sessions.

  3. Complete a Placement Assessment.  For more information about Placement Assessments, please see the Placement Assessment page on, with specific information for online students under "Testing for Chemeketa Online and Out-of-District Students".  Please contact or 503.399.5046 with questions about Placement Assessments.

If you have general questions, please contact Salem Advising & Counseling at 503.399.5120 or by email at  Questions about Placement Assessments can be directed to or 503.399.5046.
