As part of a pilot project concluded in June, 2007, Chemeketa Community College trained nearly 50 faculty and staff in the Quality Matters online course review model. This process, developed by Maryland Online under a grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), focuses on the continuous improvement of online courses through a peer-reviewed quality assurance certification process. As part of the pilot project, 20 Chemeketa faculty members were certified as peer reviewers, and ten Chemeketa Online courses were reviewed.

Following the pilot project, a committee of faculty and staff proposed the adoption and implementation of the Quality Matters (QM) model for assuring the quality of online courses at Chemeketa. The goals of the implementation proposal include the review of 20 online courses per year (two cycles of 10 courses each). Participation in the review process is completely voluntary.

Chemeketa Online is currently recruiting instructors who would like to take a course through the QM review process in Winter/Spring of 2009. Applications are due by Monday, December 1. Further information about having your course reviewed is available below.
